The test is performed through a simple blood sample sent to the Phadia Immunology Reference Laboratory (PIRL) of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., located in Michigan, United States.
The procedure consists of placing the person’s blood serum on a biochip where the allergens that detect the test are located.
By measuring the levels of the IgE molecules produced by the patient sample, one can identify against which one or which of these allergens the patient reacts.
ImmunoCAP allergens and allergen components allow specific and quantitative IgE antibodies to be detected, even if their levels are low. This quantitative result allows predicting and monitoring disease development, estimating the risk of a severe reaction, and explaining cross-reactivity.
